Small Business Week is a time to celebrate the people, ideas, and local businesses that help our communities grow. For us at DoorStep Dental, it was also a chance to connect with fellow business owners, share our mission, and talk about making dental hygiene care more accessible.

On October 22, 2026, we were proud to take part in the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce Business Summit in Kingston, Ontario. We brought our DoorStep Dental booth, met inspiring local business owners, and had meaningful conversations with people who care about supporting their community.

Events like this remind us why we chose to build our business here in Kingston. Behind every small business is a team working hard to serve people, solve everyday problems, and make a difference in the community.

Connecting with Kingston’s Small Business Community

We were delighted to meet Karen Cross, CEO of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. Thank you for championing small businesses and creating opportunities for local businesses like ours to connect, learn, and grow.

Being part of a business community that supports local entrepreneurs means a great deal to us. These connections help us share what we do, learn from others, and build relationships that can lead to new opportunities for the people we serve.

An Eye-Opening Session on AI Security for Small Businesses

We also enjoyed learning from Andy Larin of Allcare IT during his session on AI security.

As small businesses make greater use of digital tools, it is important to think carefully about security, privacy, and how technology is used. The session gave us plenty to think about, and we believe these conversations are valuable for business owners who want to use technology responsibly.

Thank you to Andy for sharing his knowledge and offering such useful insights.

Thank You to the Team Behind the Summit

A big thank you to Zermaan Khan for organizing such a valuable event. Bringing local businesses together creates opportunities to share ideas, build relationships, and support the people who make Kingston’s business community what it is.

We are also grateful to everyone who stopped by the DoorStep Dental booth. We loved speaking with you about our work and explaining how mobile dental hygiene services can help people access care without always needing to travel to a traditional dental office.

Whether someone was asking about services for a family member, care for older adults, or options for people who have difficulty travelling, we were glad to have the opportunity to share what we do.

Connecting with Businesses That Care for People at Home

It was great connecting with André Dénommée from Advanta Home Services, another Kingston business focused on helping people in their homes.

We believe there is real value in bringing together businesses that share a commitment to serving people where they live. Home-based services can make everyday tasks and essential support more accessible, particularly for people who face challenges travelling or managing daily needs.

At DoorStep Dental, this belief guides our mobile dental hygiene services. We work to make professional dental hygiene care more convenient for patients, including older adults and people with mobility challenges.

Making Dental Hygiene Care More Accessible in Kingston

Our reason for starting DoorStep Dental has always been clear: we want to make preventative oral healthcare easier to access.

We know that getting to a dental office can be difficult for some people. Mobility limitations, transportation needs, and busy schedules can all create barriers to routine care.

Through our mobile approach, we bring dental hygiene services directly to patients in suitable settings. We also work with community organizations and care providers to help reach people who may benefit from this model.
